Using a false name

I'm in the process of taking someone to the Small Claims Court. I know the address of the person but I suspect they have given a false name. My question is how can the court deliver the relevant paperwork when this person is using a false name and who's duty is it to find out the real name? The Police have been asked to visit the address to confirm who lives there but they don't want to know. How can I find out this persons real name as I've tried the various websites, electoral records etc, but to no avail.

My understanding is that a person can call him/herself what he/she likes.

With that in mind, the concept of a false name is difficult to grasp. ;)

If he has given you a name, then almost by definition, that is the name he wishes to be known by.
That is the name you should use on the court documents.

It certainly is not the police's job to carry out your investigation for you. If you want to investigate further then you need to do that yourself or hire an investigator to do it.

:(So do they have an online presence?
Hopefully you know their name, because otherwise how can you suspect?
    Your post is very vague.
How much money are we talking about?

    .
Not much point in that considering any claim would never be enforceable .

You have to use the PERSONS name, the birth certificate name, this is mercantile law, a human can call themselves what they like, a person is a legal entity and has a created title.

How do you know this is mercantile?

    It is a county court.

How would I approach this if I were investigating it.
The answer is in the bin.

You dont get utilities these days with false names.

I'm not sure most of this is helpful to the op?
Apart from the first line, what are you talking about?

I think that what he was trying to say is that if the OP knows where the person concerned lives then an early morning visit to the property on rubbish collection day may prove useful.
A discarded utility bill or something similar in the rubbish may well show the name that they need. (bearing in mind that even though it might be rubbish put out for collection, it would probably still class as theft if taken without permission).

    Thank you that's much clearer.
