Default and settled defaults

  • How long have you had the arrangement to pay in place?
I had something similar, with Barclays, where it was coming up to 6 years where I'd been in arrangement to pay.
I argued that the account should have defaulted, and the AP puts me in a worse position than if it had, or had I declared bankruptcy back then.

They said to call them back after the full 6 years had elapsed (next month, as it happens), and they will remove it from my credit file.

The arrangement has been in place for just over a year. Barclays have told me that the legislation has changed and that they can no longer offer me a plan. When I asked what the legisation was and if I could get a copy of it, they refused.
