Cheque not showing in acc

I put a cheque in at the RBS yesterday and today its not showing in the account. I know it can take 3 - 5 working days to clear but in the past whenever i put a cheque in it asppears in the account the next day (maybe not cleared but still in). The girl who served me had a problem and asked for help. I was asked to put my card in again and enter pin then she had a problem on screen again. another member of staff pressed a few buttons and my recipt was printed. Just never happened before - can anyone shine any light this way ?

If the receipt was printed out by the machine then it should be okay. There could have been a delay in sending the cheque off to their processing centre, all cheques leave the branches at night via courier.
