First time wearing glasses not convinced advice please

To cut a long story short I work with computers all day and have been getting really bad eye strain especially in my right for years. Its got to the point that I cant ignore it any longer so I went to an independent optometrist and got a free NHS eye test. They said I needed a mild prescription for glasses and my right eye is slightly worse than the left. So I took the prescription an went to specsavers because they are much cheaper. They made up two pairs of glasses for me and as soon as I put them on I could tell that right eye wasn't correct. The guy in specsaver assured me that there is an adjustment period and to wait a few days.
The prescription i got was:
right: Sphere +0.25, Cyl +1.00, Axis 16, Aided VA 6/4.5-1
Left: Sphere +0.25, Cyl +0.50, Axis 162, Aided VA 6/4.5
With the glasses on the right eye is ever so slightly blurrier than without them on especially when looking at a distance. The left eye i cant tell any difference at all. Its also like walking around with a magnifying glass in front of my face when out walking with them on. I really just wanted to get them for using a computer and perhaps driving. I dont really need glasses for anything else than computer work.
With the prescription above should this be happening? How come the left eye isn't also blurry if there is an adjustment period? Iv been wearing them for two days on and off. I'm not convinced I think either they have made the glasses wrong or my prescription is wrong. Am I entitled to a free second opinion on the NHS? I'm in scotland. And do I have to go back to the same optometrist for it?
Also one pair seems to have to narrow a field of view for me they aren't wide enough any chance I can get them to change these for free?

i believe specsavers offer a 90 day no quibble return policy.
As for whether the prescription is correct i doubt anyone on a forum will be able to give you an answer.
Ask in specsavers for an eye test,if you are entitled to free eye tests i dont see how this would be a problem.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

yeah im not asking if the prescription is correct but maybe somebody will undsterstand what it means and what you would expect when putting them on for the first time.0

What are the glasses meant to be worn for? If they're meant to be for when you're sitting at the computer then they will probably look odd on distance vision. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
This is what I am confused about myself. They said I probably would only need then for concentrating tasks not for walking about outside but then said you have to wear them all the time from the moment you get up to get used to them?0

If they aren't suitable, go back and they will either adjust the way the lenses are set or do a new set of lenses.
I was once given a prescription that I couldn't live with as the sharp curve on the edge of a lens made me duck away from wall cupboard doors,in peripheral vision, which appeared to be about to hit me. The solution was a slightly weaker prescription than that indicated by the test. (No extra cost involved.)0 -
Go back and get them adjusted,
The prescription will be ok, just that the lens are not set right for your eyes.
Someone else will look at them and adjust them for you.0 -
Are they helpful for when you are working on the computer. If so, then just wear them for that, which is what you originally needed.0

Perfect vision as soon as you put them on.
There are all kinds of things that can go wrong with prescriptions. For example, the length between the glasses and the eye isn't calculated properly. So when you do the text they seem perfect, but when you put on glasses, they may be closer to your face which can blur vision enough to make them worthless. You can get things like the lens is made in such a way that the optimal focused part isn't in line with the centre of your eye.
You need to take them back, say they don't work properly, and get them to redo the prescription.0 -
Your prescription sounds like my first ,when I started wearing glasses(except for distance).
As said it was like going HD.
Everything was crisp and is focus from the minute I put them.
However, everyones different. I recently went varifocal and they did take me a couple of weeks to get used to.0 -
My first specs were for computer work and reading.
I could not use them for distance as everything in the distance was blurred. I had to take them off to walk around or read the clock at the other end of the the office.0
