    I built my own spreadsheet
so did I; it's very 'trial and error' in terms of scenarios but does the job up to a point. I'm sure somebody better at programming that I am could do something cleverer to help me with my two aims of (1) getting as close to LTA as possible before I retire and (2) spending all my money before I die without paying HRT. ;)

Easy peasy. Just tell us the date of your (future) death and we can calculate that for you :)

    (2) is easy: at age 75 buy an annuity.
Free the dunston one next time too.

Actually it's a bit easier than I made it sound. Date of death is not as significant as it could be as c.70% of income will be from DB pensions (yes I have thought about if one of us dies). It's more a case of spending the DC pot while we're young enough to enjoy it.

Another market downturn or an increase in the HR threshold will fix it for me.

Just making my 1000th post...nothing to see here!!!;)
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

Just having a tot-up of the current situation....OK so the recent correction has had an impact these last 3 months, but year on year I think we're still solid. Annual spends look like they're going to come in under £13k again.

Right off into the shower now, dressed up, and I think I may have a few pressies under the tree, and a glass of fizz and a croissant. Merry Christmas everyone!!! Happy Bean counting!!! Here's hoping for a prosperous 2019!!!

T'was overdue and much anticipated. Volatility goes with the territory of S&S investment so best we all just sit tight and wait for the storm to pass.

once into drawdown, sequence risk is very real - a couple of bad years at the start can devastate a pension pot.....
That's why I think its sensible to have several years income in cash as a buffer.
