My husband and I recently financed an ex display mattress from dfs. On the tag they put on it it said it was a double mattress, but what has been delivered is a kingsize mattress...our double bed had been away being fixed and now it's back we've put the new mattress on it and now we've measured it and it's definitely king-size, we've just looked on our paperwork and they out on there it was a king-size!! We definitely agreed with the salesman a double mattress. What can we do??

How long have you had the mattress for?
You need to contact the salesman and see if he can remember your conversation. If not you're going to struggle when the paperwork states it is a king.0 -
A few thoughts. Firstly, let's not jump to the conclusion that the store's personnel are going to dismiss any attempt at resolving your issue. There are honest salespeople and store managers. It is amazing what results can be gleaned from having a rational, level-headed and firm but friendly conversation. Maybe the salesman remembers your visit to the store and will recall your requirements and his subsequent mistake? Maybe the store manager simply wants to keep you happy and will offer to sort the problem regardless of fault? Possibly, possibly not. Worth a try.
Secondly, is your 'paperwork' showing 'king size' a receipt from the time of purchase, or a delivery receipt? If it is a receipt from when you paid for the item in the shop (and if the first option above fails), then you might have a problem on your hands. Let's be honest, a receipt shows what you paid for and part of the responsibility for checking this falls to you as the customer. If however the receipt showing 'king size' is just a delivery receipt then this proves nothing in the store's favour. Game on.
Thirdly, how much did you pay for the mattress? Were there several ex display mattresses on sale at the time? Maybe the amount you paid can be shown to link to a double mattress and not the king? Or (and this one relies on the honesty of the store manager) bearing in mind that most 'chain' stores discount by a set amount when selling ex display items, they can work out the difference between what you paid and the discount they would normally apply to the retail price when selling items as ex-display. This will show if you paid for a double or a king.
I know that's nothing concrete but hopefully some useful pointers.0 -
