Why is Marmite never on offer?

  • Hi,

Marmite is for the more educated, refined folks, the upper class University Challenge type, not for the Oxo, Bovril, Family Fortunes types.

    I love Marmite. :D

I bought Vegemite last time (because it was on offer). Never again. Tasteless splodge! Did anyone try Marmite XO ?

It was £4 a jar and not really much different to ordinary. *shrug*

Yes those tiddly jars - don't last five minutes. I get the middle size jar as the massive one I can't get my knife down at the bottom.

I always put a teaspoon of it in gravy too.
  • I always used to buy Marmite but then another poster on MSE recommended trying Sainsbury's reduced salt yeast spread and I did - and I only buy that now. Don't miss the extra salt and it's half the price too, so a double win! :)
  • Marmite is one of the very few things I will not downgrade on.

Tried own brands at other peoples houses and nothing even comes close to Marmite.

Would love an offer as it would save me loads, but as already stated it would not be worth their while.
