Terrace property

Hi all,
Have a question re terrace properties...
The left hand side fence is mine....that wall is part of the neighbours property, (their kitchen) fence maintenance is my problem.....
Am I allowed to hang things off that wall if I wanted to? Not currently planning to but was thinking to make a bit of a structure so there is a bit of a roof over there to protect the toys underneath. Thought I would ask in here about the legalities before I went and did anything or even spoke to the neighbours to see if they would be happy with that.

I would think it a darn cheek if it were my wall. But you can always ask the neighbours.
You are under no obligation to repair the fence if you do not want to. The responsibility for maintaining the boundary only means that you have to show where it actually is, This can be done by something as simple as a wire strung between posts.0 -
Thanks...I also think it is a darn cheek.... which is why to this date I haven't done it...
But my neighbour on the other side has just built a structure, making holes in my wall without asking me... so I thought I would check the legality0 -
Given that it is a terrace then it is probably a party wall, in which case, yes you can attach things to it.
At some point the party wall act would kick in. Something with a roof would probably need proper agreement.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

You might want to aim for a small gazebo sort of thing in the sort term? As anything that can keep snow etc off the children's toys in winter might apply a fair-ish bit of pressure to the fixing points.
Form an engineering point of view, I'd be inviting the neighbours over for tea & cake...0 -
