Car Insurance Premium Recalculation

When I was searching for insurance I made some errors on the details of when my partner and I got our licences and when we entered the UK, as a result 1st central have decided that the premium has increased;
The details that resulted in this increase are:
Date obtained full driving licence changed from 6 March 2011 to 27 July 2011
Named driver obtained full driving licence changed from 6 March 2008 to 14 June 2007
Date entered UK changed from March 2006 to May 2007
This has resulted in an increase in the premium of £82.89 plus an admin fee of £50. This is a 20% increase in the premium.
No I know I messed up so will give them the Admin fee, but the increase in premium seems excessive. Anyone else have experience of this?

Perhaps the changes make it tip over the 'year' mark?
For example, if the policy starts in April, putting March 2011 for your licence means you got it 6 years ago. Amending to July means you got it less than 6 years ago.
So on and so forth for the other mistakes too.0 -
Is £82.89 20% of the premium or is £32.89 20%. £32.89 doesnt seem off the mark.
You need to be more careful with the data when getting insurance it could have cost a lot more.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
£82.89 is 20%.
Yeah, lesson learned.
What was unusual, and a first for me after almost 10 years living in the UK, is that both myself and my partner were asked to provide evidence of when we became resident in the UK. Could be a sign of things to come.0 -
They are doing you a huge favour, thank them and pay up.
They could cancel your insurance for false information and that leaves you queuing up with the drink drivers at specialist brokers.
As pointed out, your mistake and they are well within their rights to cancel the insurance and you have to declare this for 6 years.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -

Probably asked as the information you gave this time didn't match up with information you gave in the past. What was unusual, and a first for me after almost 10 years living in the UK, is that both myself and my partner were asked to provide evidence of when we became resident in the UK.
