Car Hire at Luxembourg Airport after 9.30pm on Saturdays

Hello

I hope someone can help me. My partner and I are flying into Luxembourg due to arrive about 9.30ish. We want to hire a car but most car hire firms close at 5pm on Saturdays at the airport (which is the day we fly in) we phoned a car hire company in Luxembourg who confirmed their paticular company closes at 5, but on a few comparison sites it does say we can pick up vehicles at our preferred time.

I find it hard to believe you cannot hire vehicles after 5pm on Saturdays, so just wondering if anyone has had this dilemma before?

to take one example Europcar clearly state on their website that out-of-hours pickup is possible at extra cost. Looks like you may be best tp phone them to find out how much.

I would expect all the larger reputable companies have similar facility at the airport.

Comparison sites will give prices for when pick up places are closed, if you try to book your booking will just hang and not get confirmed. Been there done that, had to go and get the car the next morning, have now got into the habit of checking location opening hours before booking flights.

I think every car rental office at the airport closes at the same time, I presume you are arriving on the Ryanair flight at 2130 and clearly no rental company considers there is sufficient business to warrant staying open after 1700. This happens even in the UK, at Leeds Bradford Avis closes after 1500 on Saturday and if I am arriving later I tend to use Zipcar/Enterprise car club vehicles which can be picked up on the street 24 hours a day. You need to join the scheme and there is a monthly fee but for me it makes sense, whether it does for you, and whether they operate in Luxemburg I do not know. Alternatively you will have to pick up the car the following morning

Yes that's the flight! Not sure what's gonna happen at the moment....I believe our hotel is over an hour away in Saarland Germany....so really not sure...may have a look at hotel airport options.

As another poster said Europcar will do out of hours pickup for an extra fee. Doing a dummy quote on their website for 2130 on a Saturday allows me to book and gives an all inclusive price that includes the out of hours fee that is €30.

Likewise Sixt has a similar option but the fee is more expensive at £51.
