Motor legal protection - more than one car?

So, I've been paying for motor legal protection on my car for years but just recently we have got a second car.
1) Is it necessary for me to pay for motor legal protection for both vehicles or will one policy cover both?
2) Should I even bother with this? I realise I could get a cheaper policy from an independent. But is it worth having at all?
Many thanks for any advice. I have searched the forum for tips on this but the only thread I found was from 2008 so I thought it would be worth asking again.

The one policy attached to one car will probably only cover that car. You can get policies elsewhere that will cover multiple vehicles.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
