Nyc nye

Hi all
Thinking of booking trip to NYC with my husband for NYE. We don't want to queue out in the cold for hours for ball drop sonare thinking either an event where we can see it from inside, a hotel party or fireworks from Central Park. Has anyone done either of these and do you have a view on best options or tips?
Also what area would you recommend we stay in? We've both done NYC before although years ago and separately. We want to use public transport and walk as much as possible.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Stay in the UK and watch it online?
  • Yeah thanks ;).....I guess we're after a city break holiday when we both have time off which happens to coincide with NYE. We'd love some advice / tips so we can do it as best as possible on a somewhat limited budget plus navigate the fact it is a busy public holiday.

We went along to Central Park. You can, at a push, see the ball drop in Times Square and then get the fireworks. Bear in mind that there's a bit of standing around (and not a lot to do) and it's blooming cold.

If I was doing it again I think you can be on the Brooklyn Bridge for midnight, and I'd try that - although I imagine that's even colder.

Never been to NYC for NYE but we can recommend the Pod 51 Hotel. It's basic but very convenient and clean. DD is off there on Tuesday for the 3rd time.

Have been for NYE and it was extremely cold.

It's a bit of an anti climax really.
Have been twice and it really isn't a good time to visit. Spring is so much better.

Playa Del Carmen was great for NYE.
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.
  • Thanks everyone. We're not 100% set on NYC but we're only able to get away for 4 nights so need somewhere with reasonable flight time from UK.
