Power of Attorney

Good morning all, i have just completed a lasting power of attorney form for my mother in law ( for property and financial affairs ) i have all the forms signed and ready to be sent off , does anyone have any experience of what happens when i get the stamped forms back? for example various institutions will want to see the forms at some stage but i would be reluctant to let the forms out of my sight, how do you get around this problem? will the people who need to see the L.P.A forms except copies ? does getting the L.P.A certified deal with this problem? if so what is the correct process of getting the L.P.A certified? thanks in advance for any help.

A solicitor will provide you with certified copies for a small charge. They are just as acceptable as the original0

in hospitals we just look at the original (to check its genuine), photocopy it, put the copy in the notes then give the original back to the relative
forgot to say, we aren't allowed to act on photocopies at all, needs to be the original to be valid0 -
Get some certified copies made but don't keep them in the same place. Each attorney should hold one as should the donor while they still have mental capacity to act for themselves.
You only need to present them to organisations like banks when required. If for instance she is still using her bank account at cash points and writing cheques, but you get her main shop in each week, then you can use it to get a seperate card for her account.0 -
Thanks everybody for your replies very much appreciated.
