Looking for a new Monitor - advice please

I'm looking for a new monitor to go with a new desktop that I am purchasing and I have several questions.

I've been looking around the £110 - £150 price range for a mid-range 19" widescreen.

1) I've been told to go with one that has DVI inputs. Does this result in better pictures just because of the cable used?

2) But what about HD? I don't have a HD player/ SkyHD, but would be interested in viewing stuff like quicktime trailers in HD - would a standard monitor/ graphics card combination allow for that?

3) Any advice on what is a good monitor, or any particularly good deals on at the moment.

4) Looking on the HUKD website there are various 22"/ 24" offers on Hanns G/ Cibox/ Acers.
How are these as brands? The Hanns look quite nice.

5) What is a good size - I'm replacing a 17" CRT, and think that 19" is pretty big, but is widescreen the way to go? I'd be using it to browse/ emails and the odd game - but for movies, I'd probably revert to my TV.

We have a Xerox and a Hans G 19" wide screens which are only used for simple gaming and computing. I think both are 5ms and there is no delay blur. Neither have any dead spots/dots or whatever they are called.I like the wide screen particularly if you have more than one window running at the same time, you can see the others at the side.

I would say the Hans G is the better one as it has a bit more contrast and colour depth.

Why choose a 19" widescreen when you can have a HANNS.G 21.6"TFT Widescreen 1680x1050 1000:1 300 cd/m2 5ms HDMI/VGA Speakers 3 Years Warranty @£146.97 delivered. I purchased one last week and have been extremeley delighted with it, its an excellent quality, very affordable monitor. Available from ebuyer: -

    1. Using DVI will definately give you a better picture, however this monitor goes one better it gives you the option of using HDMI(HIGH DEFINITION MULTIMEDIA INTERFACE) or VGA(standard 15 pin d-sub)Should your graphics card support DVI then all you need to get is a HDMI to DVI (check your format with your card specification as there are several versions e.g. DVI-I single link, DVI-I dual link DVI-D single link DVI-D dual link etc).

2.This monitor is capable of viewing high definition movies etc.

    3. This monitor is as good a deal as your likely to get, so grab an absolute bargain while you can. Read my review at: - http://www.ciao.co.uk/HANNS_G_HG216DP__Review_5707687

4.Hannsg monitors are quality affordable monitors, I've purchased a significant amount for friends, family and customers and have never had one thats been bad or had dead pixels (I guess I've been lucky).

5.DVD movies were made for this widescreen monitor they are simply amazing, I upgraded from a 17" Acer that I never had any problems with either.

My advice would be to grab this monitor at this price while you can as it will only go up, its a real steal at <£150
    Cheers
