Help needed

Please help!
I received a parking fine from euro car parks. I appealed it because I believed I had the grounds to. After appealing the fine on line I received no confirmation of the appeal and have had no response. I have now received a letter from Northampton county court business centre. This states I now need to pay £260 from the original £70. To get the case resolved I will pay the original fine but not the additional. The letter states if I agree to pay partial and the company accept a judgement will be made against me in that amount. It also states if it is denied I will receive a county court judgement for the full amount. I am happy to pay the original amount however I am very concerned this will still result in a CCJ. I have a mortgage and credit cards and cannot have a CCJ as it will massively affect my future financial position. What can I do?

Read post 2 of this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822

It contains a comprehensive guide to defending a court claim. You need to acknowledge the claim asap and say you wish to defend.

When did you get the paperwork from Northampton? The exact date would be useful.
  • I received the paper work today, just really concerned about receiving a CCJ but really cannot pay the increased amount they are requesting.

Good you've got plenty of time then to formulate a defence. Make a note of dates though it is vitally important not to miss deadlines and get a default judgment against you.

Read the thread I linked over and over. It takes a bit to sink in but when
it does it gets easier. Don't be afraid to ask questions either. Stick to this thread though so all the information is in one place.

Even if you lose in court you will not get CCJ, as long as you pay up in time - usually within 1 month unless ordered different by the judge
