Now Insurance Companies are ripping us off with Charges

Options
I took out a Car Insurance policy for my Jeep Cherokee with More Than in June 2007 and Paid £208.75 and now I wish to sell it, I have just contacted the Insurance Company to Cancel my policy and they told me I was Intitled to 9 months refund of £100 but that I would have to pay a £35-00 Administration charge. NOT ONLY are the Banks at it but also it seems the Insurance Companies are doing. What can I do to get my charges back.

Regards Rob

This has been discussed at length, many times. Search for 'admin' on this forum.

In short, the matter is not related to the issue of bank charges and you cannot avoid these fees.

    Hi Mudman,

I don't believe you can get this back.

This is a legal admin charge and not an illegal penalty charge.

It should be in your documentation that was provided to you when you took out the policy.

I'm afraid that legal admin charges cannot be reclaimed.

You could try making a complaint and see whether they will do it on a "goodwill" basis but you don't have any legal leg to stand on I'm afraid.

My advice is to check the important info before taking a policy out, and check all documentation within the cooling off period.
Many policies provide the full documentation on-line so you can check it out at your leisure.
