How to get information about a death/ funeral

Hi, hoping someone can advise here.
I am involved in a local charity and we used to visit an elderly man on a regular basis. He was taken into hospital recently and we suspected that he would never go home again. Las week, we heard, although it was not confirmed, that he had died. Sadly, this week it was confirmed that he had.
The warden where he lived confirmed that on discharge from hospital he had moved into a home, but she was never told where. He had no family in the UK, but the warden knows that someone was appointed to clear his flat, which has happened but that is all the information we have. It is looking increasingly likely that he won't have anyone at his funeral, that is if it has not been held already. Is there any way that we can find any information, we don't even know the date he died?

You can check the register of deaths at the local registry office. There should be a record of who notified the death to the registrar.
If there were no family then it will be a 'public health' burial or cremation organised by local social work department.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
It recently took us 6 weeks to have a funeral so you hopefully have time. Would the borough's crematorium tell you if something was booked with them?Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0
