Is there a way to apply equalization to music played to BT or USB speakers? Mine are a wee bit bass-heavy.

Only what is there in Manage Audio Devices and then on the device, mostly they boost Bass but a few things.
The supplier of your speaker may have a utility/driver that offers more. Please be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. Remember, the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. Thanks for the info. Apparently no functions in the driver for these; the PC thinks they are a bluetooth headset.
I've now found the equalizer in VLC media player (though even with bass frequencies at minimum and the filter set to double pass it is still a bit penetrating at higher volume). For other sound like Youtube videos I'll just have to keep the volume down..0 -
You have turned the bass down, have you increased the other ranges? Did you use the VLC presets? What did you choose?
Does the sound driver not have its own equalizer?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
As an alternative to a digital equaliser (such as the Dolby app) consider if you can solve the problem acoustically?
Speakers can be severely affected by positioning. Close to walls or floors can enhance the bass in some, even more so if placed in corners. If that is your current placement and you can accept different positioning try them away from walls, floors and corners. Also ensure line of sight from your position to the speakers to ensure treble is not reduced thus making the sound seem bass heavy.
If the speakers are a reflex design positioning can be heard most adversely but adding sound insulation into the reflex port can help significantly.0 -
DFX is quite good but costs £. There are other apps (SRS ????) like this but non are free to my knowledge. They all effect audio, but some support multiple profiles.
There is also a free parametric equalizer in GitHub???? that was VERY slick, but did not work on my microphone to video file mixing setup, think it was for output only??? From memory did have a graphic equalizer tab/button too

Thanks for this, digital music is all new here so that's helpful. Will have a browse...0 -
If you are using an iPhone , you can use the eq setting on there.
Same with your computer/laptop in the preferences setting.
I'm probably talking about something completely different ..:)0
