O/S Daily Saturday 8 April 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, but cloudy and overcast, we seem to start off this way then the sky clears and we get some sun, hopefully that will happen today.
DH up and gone into work, I'm now enjoying a first cuppa, and will get a shower shortly followed by some brekkie. Boys still in their pits.
Dinner last night was chicken and bacon kievs, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk, I had fishcakes, jacket potato and veg. Tonight we'll be having a sort of mixed grill, it will be steak, sausages, liver, chips and peas.
I will be heading into town first thing to visit the building society and bank. I'm thinking then I'll come home and continue with the ironing as the last line full from yesterday wasn't dry enough to be ironed so was left out until 6pm - so that needs to be done.
Yesterday I did get some baking done in the afternoon, I made some 2 doz cupcakes and 2 doz mince pies - menfolk enjoying them all, not sure how long they're going to last!
Keep safe and well x

Morning, it looks as though it might be another bright day here, yesterday was lovely. Not particularly warm but sunny.
As usual, I have washing waiting to go out when OH gets up and is ready for the reverse burgling.
House was clean and tidy (ish) yesterday less so now of course with my messy two but at least I know it is clean underneath.
I don't have plans today, I shall do some knitting, am making yet another set of farmyard animals and farmers. I am going to have a lovely decadent bath too. By decadent I mean a bath for lying in reading, with bubbles, as opposed to simply getting clean.
Oh is cooking this evening so it will probably be the usual thing of huge amounts of meat for them and some fish for me.
Tomorrow a friend is coming for a cup of tea and I think that's about it for the weekend.
JackieO your holiday sounds great!
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A glorious warm and sunny day is forecast. I shall be washing things that don't need washing just 'cos I can peg it out!
The 3 DGDs are still fast asleep and am creeping about so as not to waken them. They were much later to bed last night so should sleep in a bit (I hope!!) We had a game of Monopoly which went on and on and on ....! Needless to say eldest was the winner.
Sausages defrosting for lunch and I think tonight it will be pizza and chips. After a long day of entertaining them it'll need to be something easy!
JACKIE your holiday sounded lovely. Have a good day and (HUGS) for those wanting/needing them. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
Thanks nmlc.
Yesterday was busy, making a will isn't the easiest thing to as there's so much to think about. I ended up making a fairly simple one and came home with loads of questions floating around my head. Since the split with OH and the loss of my beloved nephew / godson a lot of things need addressed.
Anyway, came back to DM to find she had cleared out yet another cupboard and had four bags of unwanted stuff for the dump and charity shop. She was really upset that the CS wouldn't take the two bags of old cassette and video tapes which had to go to the dump. It seemed difficult for her to throw away the Magic Roundabout one especially, she called me 'heartless' as I tipped it away. :rotfl:
Then we did a quick Wrose shop in lieu of today and returned things to Dobbies and, eventually, home.
Today I've got a dental hygienist appointment- they do one Saturday every month - and then DM and I are off to JLewis where she's got a personal styling / shopper 'experience' for some new clothes. I'm impressed that, aged 89, she's still interested in being smart.
I hope everyone enjoys a happy Saturday.0 -
Morning all
I'm a daily reader but only an occasional poster here at the moment.
The sun is shining here so I need to get up and get going; we're going to a dance tonight that requires us to bring a plate of food so will have to have a think about that. Normally I'd do some cut up veggie sticks and a tub of hummous but I have plenty of eggs and flour so might make some little cakes or a traybake.
We also need to have something more substantial for lunch and then an early supper so I can see I'll be rummaging in the freezer.
Have a good Saturday everyone0 -
Morning All
Dry here with a breeze so the bedding is on the line, we're not due the warm sunny weather some of you are expecting but dry will do!
Apart from ironing and making up the bed I didn't do much again yesterday, that's 2 days not going out, must try harder today! I did knit some little booties and a hat for a new baby, just need to make the pom-poms.
Must go to the allotment later and see what's going on, I'll clear the bed ready for something new.
Have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Bright sunny day here, dogs are walked and fed, now snoozing on their beds.
DOH came home with a bright red face from a day sitting in the sun watching cricket, not sure why he didn't use the lotion that I popped into his bag!
I am off to a footie match with my DB this afternoon but other than that not loads planned, have some YS breaded chicken pieces so easy to do with some salad when I get home.
Glad you enjoyed your holiday JackieO x
Right time for some breakfast, have a good day all x0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Put a mixed load in the washer last night at 40, I do not mind occasionally washing whites at a slightly lower temperature. They are out on the line.
Friends came yesterday, an hour later the wood surrounds for 2 deep beds was done and dusted. We need to save up for the wood for the other 2 beds now. I moved the photina and put the rhododendron in, watered both well, also sprinkled some grow more on the clematis at the top of the garden. I am in the process of planting 2 plants on each piece of trellis. I have several I have raised from cuttings.
Fritatta, jacket spuds with celery and tomato salad for supper tonight.
OH is busy doing lists for our holiday, I need to copy down the meals from the list on the fridge door and make sure that we take most of the main ingredients with us. Will just need to buy the makings of sarnies and fresh veg whilst we are away.
OH wants to cut the grass after he has his siesta. I may well weed a bit more of the herbaceous border, depends how I feel.
I nipped over to see our neighbour yesterday afternoon, make sure he was not suffering any ill effects for his try at flying on Thursday, apart from a graze on his elbow he was fine, they were getting ready to go out for a short walk.
OK time to get on with the day....cheers.............0 -

Morning all
Beautiful day here with wall to wall sunshine, I came down to fine OH had put his clothes on a boil wash which drives me mad as that means the WM is now out of action till lunch time and I have piles of washing to do, I think he thinks he is being helpful but its really not
Todays plans include house work and this afternoon mowing the lawn, Roger still has not been and the back garden is embarrassingly longim going to get the local paper and look for a new Roger.
Dinner tonight will be the salmon with new potatoes and the samphire, I am really looking forward to it, a nice light meal.
Im working tomorrow so need to make the most of today and then I have next Tuesday off so a disjointed week for me. Only four working days left till I have a much needed week off.
Have good days all xx0 -
I'm only working two days each week for the next fortnight redruby, at least I think so. I've resolutely left my laptop locked away in the office and I can't tell now until Monday when I'll look at the calendar.
OH has hung the washing out and gone shopping. I am perfectly able to hang out my own washing but less capable of squeezing out through the window.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
