Kitchen doors problem

Options
Hi folks.

This is a bit drawn out, bear with me :D

In the autumn of 2014 I had an extension built with bifold doors and velux windows fitted.

I then purchased new (vinyl wrapped)handleless kitchen doors and panels in December 2014 ,which were fitted february 2015 costing £1800

The velux are south facing and the bifolds are west facing so it can be a real hothouse in the summer without any windows open.

The first summer I noticed the vinyl had delaminated in the handleless bit of the four doors facing the bifolds. (so in effect you couldnt get your fingers in)

Iv had a lot of personal things going on the last year or two so I didnt inform the company at the time.Im now ready to deal with this.

There are 24 doors in total
5 have delaminated.
2 large end panels have delaminated
1 plinth has delaminated.
Around £400 worth of goods.
The doors have a 6 year guarantee

Iv informed the company, they were very nice and apologetic.
They informed me that delamination is very rare.

They have emailed me to tell them the measurements and they will replace all items affected.

This is where I need a little help.

I dont want the replacements.
It will only happen again if I replace with the same vinyl wrapped doors.
They are not fit for purpose in my kitchen.
Theres the time and cost factor removing and replacing, also whats saying all the other doors might not "melt"
Do I keep replacing till the 6 year guarantee runs out?
Iv already ordered new acrylic doors and I am willing to cut my losses,

What are my rights?
Should I just ask for a refund of just the affected items or ask for a full refund?
Am I entitled to this or are they only obligated to replace?

I used my credit card for the doors.

Any help appreciated

Beth

It sounds like you've badly designed the kitchen, or your builder or architect did.
If you knew the room was going to reach those temperatures , you should have told them this to check they were suitable before buying imho.It sounds more like the design of the house you asked for wasn't fit for purpose , rather than the kitchen units.

Whatever material used really needs protecting from long periods of direct sunlight, and manufacturers often exclude damage caused by it.

Take the replacement doors and get some blinds fitted. Or negotiate a deal on a full set of solid wood doors, but even they need protection from full sunlight if you want to maintain the finish, and avipoid warping.

The manufacturer can replace, repair or refund, whichever is most cost effective for them. If they refund, as more than 6 months have passed, they can deduct an amount for usage.

    How amusing

Can you explain in more detail how my kitchen/home/extension isnt fit for purpose?

Maybe I should have asked my builder not to install any windows in case the "sun shone through".

Considering we get maybe one month of "those temps''(whatever they are),Its not something thats unbearable. In fact we need less heating in the winter.

This weekend we had the doors open for the first time whilst on the deck watching the bullfinches, tits, robins and a chicken that has decided to make our garden its home.
One dd calls it rupert the other calls it chicken licken.

The design is poles apart to how it was.
Ill just get some blinds love :T

It's clearly unbearable for your units.

Perhaps you should have installed the blinds straight away? You men! :D
I can't explain it again though, as I already have
However, it was your fault, not the kitchen company, in a nutshell.
