Mortgage protection

Hi
When we took out our mortgage 10 years ago we were also sold ppi for myself incase of redundancy and also critical illness cover for both myself and my wife, because of all the publicity surrounding mis sold ppi i recently successfully claimed against the ppi and was awarded £3750 the bank also awarded us £3600 for the critical illness cover which they said was mis sold even though i had not questioned this
The problem is when i accept this offer all policies will be cancelled leaving us unprotected for the last 10 years of the mortgage.
What would be the best way to protect us from unemployment and/or critical illness.
Unfortunately i find it all very confusing with so many products out there
Thanks

Banks are so strange with their decisions sometimes. There is nothing wrong with CIC covering a mortgage. I suspect there was a technical failure that caused this. i.e. as this was a regulated sale, the client file may have been missing.

So, you made a complaint about something you actually wanted? We know there are plenty of people trying it on but most are not so obvious about it.

Basically, what you have would cover you. Maybe you should be honest and tell the bank that?
