  • Thank you Cherry, I was hoping so too, DS has other ideas. He's usually up and down anyway but tonight I can't even lay down before he's crying again.

The 62 months will make it exactly 6 years since I started the diary and my youngest well in her teens but I want to be able to enjoy things with them before they grow up. I made the debt I don't want them to spend their whole childhood hearing 'not this time, we can't afford it'. At least now it is going in the right direction, just slower than I first thought.

I'm in demand again, better go before he wakes the others.

  • Oh no, I hope you got some sleep in the end. I struggle to function if I have a disturbed nights sleep! And I hope your son feels better soon.
  • Thank you. I've probably managed 2 hours all night. DS last woke me at 3.20 then DH woke me when he came in at 4 and again when he came to bed at half 4. I've given up, I'm dressed for work and drinking a strong coffee watching the curling. Will be one of those days I regret swapping for an earlier shift.

Still haven't done a meal plan, will see what's on offer and try to get a couple of meals at least.

Oh no poor you! I hope the shift isn't too heavy, you can find a good offer for dinner and tonight's is a better sleep all round. x

Hope you manage to get some rest later and DS is okay.

I think finding the balance is important. I think there's only so long you can realistically cut everything to the total bare minimum before it makes you resent debt busting.

Taking a slower pace but enjoying life still is important. After all no one knows what's around the corner and we do need to enjoy it.

  • Thank you both. DS has been quiet all day and is now fast asleep.
My shift went better than i was expecting. I think the coffee worked as haven't drank it for so long. Spent £90 on shopping but that did include a large beef, large pork, chicken fillets and mince. Then a few party bits for tomorrow.
Spent £60 on DD's birthday. Cards and banners, candles, badge, balloons etc (DH has all those in the lock up as thats what he did self employed but he hasn't had time to go, just a bit frustrating!) and £50 of that was clothes from this months clothing budget. She was ready for some new bits so i've wrapped them up for her.

Got home and DD had a temp of 39! She is looking a lot better now and is way to excited to sleep! I wrapped present's while they were watching a film so just need to put banners up once it goes quiet.

Hopefully i'll then be able to sleep before she's jumping on the bed in the morning.

  • Oh no hope the temp doesn't bring anything else.

Hope DD has a lovely birthday tomorrow.

  • Been a few days again. I struggle to get on when DH is home. We still have the lurgy here. DD2 is finally looking better for the first time since Monday. We are all completely exhausted so been and fetched some vitamins, hopefully they will give us all a boost. It does mean we haven't spent on holiday activities though.

DH back at work tonight so has gone back to bed for a while. I've sat and gone through the budget again after all the out goings this month. I've had to adjust a few bits as realised they just weren't covering, like birthdays, where parties weren't planned in. Need to speak to DH about a few bits too. I'm wondering if we should cancel a few insurances and just put it into savings instead (£26 altogether on DD phone, dryer and fridge ins).

I might look at another bank account too as struggling with the first direct one. My last phone died and i can't access most of the things as it wants a pass code from my old phone. So might see what offers there are.

The yearly bills account is looking very healthy until next month (1750!) when the council tax arrives, followed by the car ins and MOT in June.

  • I bought some new pans the other day. We had had the others almost 17 years and the none stick stuff was peeling off in everything. They were £100 reduced to £20 a set. I've realised why, they are ceramic coated and a right pain! They have to be hand washed! I haven't washed pans in years. You cant put anything in straight from the fridge and the rings can't be on full heat or the ceramic part will bubble. But for £36 (i bought 2 sets and staff discount) i will make them do for now.

Pans washed, dishwasher loaded and 5 loads of washing done and dry. It was all the bedding, i must do it earlier next time, neighbours probably wondered what was going off when remaking all the beds at 10 tonight once the children reminded me (i've still not done mine yet). Not much else managed today.

I've not managed to go through the accounts with DH yet. I have done a food order for tomorrow to try and stop the impulse buying.

  • Haha that sounds like something I would do make beds at 10pm at night! I would take the sheets off in the morning, then forget to make them again until the kids went to bed and they reminded me!

Hope the ceramic pans work out ok!
