Royal mail 2nd class slow delivery

Hello,
I am getting a bit frustrated by how slow RM are being at the moment. Recently I switched electricity suppliers (Npower to EDF), npower had sent me a letter (presumably by 2nd class) on the 30th March with a cheque to refund the amount that my account was in credit. As of today I received a letter (via 2nd class) from EDF confirming that they finally contacted Npower to get a meter reading (Only took them 3 months) which was dated 31st March. As of yet, I have not received the letter fron Npower.
Anyone else had problems like this with 2nd class mail?

No, I'm an eBay seller who has the vast majority of items go second class. I'm even getting feedback that on occasion it's a fast as first class. Are you sure the letters aren't being delayed by the electricity provider? The date on the letter isn't necessarily the date the letter was dispatched.0

To be fair on Royal Mail, many large organisations like Npower send letters via a mailing center. Its not like someone prints out a letter in an office and sticks it in the post. So it depends how long it takes for the mailing center to get the request, process, print and send out. Then often a second company like TNT will pick up the letter, sort and then enter it into Royal Mail's network.
I'm not saying Royal Mail aren't slow but in this case there are other factors involved.0 -

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately my experience with 2nd class hasn't been as great, with a few letters having gone missing in the past. I contacted Npower who told me that it was sent out on the 30th, although I am guessing that it may have been sent out the following Monday, as I know some businesses do that.. Either way, I'm giving it til Wednesday before speaking to Npower again.0 -
I pretty much only use second class for my eBay sales and find that much of the time it is as quick as first class for me. On the occasions it does take longer then 3 days seems to be the norm.0

Most of my ebay sales go 2nd class and so far they have reached within 3 days. Today I got feedback from 2 buyers - both parcels were posted 2nd class, yesterday at 3pm. That happens frequently so I don't see any point in sending them 1st class.0

You still don't seem to grasp what has been posted.
N Power likely don't use 1st or 2nd class.
They use a DSA provider who provide the mail to RM to deliver.
When N Power says its sent, that likely means a button was clicked to generate the letter.
They dont pop down to the post office with your letter.
So it needs printed,sent/collected by the DSA company and then taken to an RM hub.
Then it goes into the standard RM network.0 -

2nd & 1st class make no difference in deliveries.
They do in the network.
So 1st class needs processed the same day it hits the mail centers and will be flown where required.
2nd doesn't and can be 'put aside' as required to protect the 1st class products.0 -
I send out second class with most of my eBay sales etc but only send out first class if is plants.
I totally agree it is not royal mails fault when it comes to letters being sent out from corporate type big organisations .
Even though they said was sent out. They actually mean it started its process of being sent out.
So nothing wrong with the actual royal mail second class postal service
They cant process/post it if they haven't received it from the sender.Work to live= not live to work0 -
