Question about paint

Hello
I am hoping to paint a few small, thin pieces of wood in white matt/silk emulsion and then in a lilac matt/silk finish.
I will need not more than a litre of each but wherever I have looked (Homebase, Wilko, B&Q, etc), they only sell those 2.5l tins at about £15 each. So, apart from the money aspect, I would end up dumping a big quantity of new paint. I will not require any of these paints in the future.
Does any store in the UK offer one litre tins of these colours, please?
Thank you.

Many thanks for your reply, eggha
There is a technical problem with the ScrewFix site ('There seems to have been a technical problem'), so I will check later.
Wood paint rather than emulsion sounds a better idea - thanks for that and for the DIY link.
I will take a peek.

http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Painting+%26+Decorating/d150 - Various sizes available from 500ml upwards.
It is also worth having a look around your local discount supermarkets (QD, B&M, and their ilk). Their prices may not be the best in terms of volume per £ and the colour range will be limited, but they should have some small pots.
If you are set on a specific colour, then you might be better off going to a specialist paint store that offers a mixing service (someone like Kent Blaxhill). If you are wanting one of these hipster brands like F&B or Annie Sloan, expect to pay through the nose for any quantity.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
How small are the pieces of wood? Perhaps a couple of tester pots at roughly £1 each might suffice?0

Not in emulsion they start at 2.5 litres.0 -
What are you painting the wood for? if it's not going to be subject to abuse the emulsion might do, perhaps with an overlay of clear matt varnish for protection0

Thanks for your replies.
They are half-an inch x half-an inch and of various feet.
They will go at the top of the walls right up against the ceiling to create a kind of border effect.
They are for my hall which is L-shaped.0 -

Thanks London50
I have bought those tester paints before for three small wooden picture frames but I didn't think the finish looked as good as it could have done. Maybe I applied the paint wrongly, but I ended up throwing the frames out. The finish wasn't as smooth as I thought 'normal' paint would be.0 -
Homebase today, which has been very helpful, sent me a couple of links:

At least I know I don't have to get the 2.5L tins.
I am quite temped now by maisie cat's idea of a dark blue/purple emulsion with a light coating of varnish. It sounds very professional.
Thanks again for all your advice.0
