Proof of address

Hello.

I am a ftb and in early stages of property search. I met with couple of mortgage brokers so far. On my second one, it appears I can be lent a higher amout which would be desirable for me. However, the first hurdles appeared. While my hmrc tax code arrived to my correspondence address, it is not my living address. In fact, all other letters are being sent to my (friend) correspondence address, including any bank statements. This is basically because I am in a houseshare where things sometimes go missing. He advised me that I could change my address online and forward him the last three months. This, however, doesnt work retrospectively. I recently notified an electoral registrar of my living address hoping I can receive this only letter to be my proof of address but when calling my borough this week, I was advised the letter was sent in February (which I never got) and if I want another one, I need to file an application and pay £15 (!!!). So, I believe once I change the bank statements to show my living address as a one off, this can also be my proof of address but it doesn't look like it's doable except waiting for the next three month's of statement with my living address on them and then switch the address back to my correspondence one. Any ideas for a better and legitimate way around it? Surely, if I am questioned over this, I can advise that I am using two different addresses purely for my own protection and to ensure I receive any correspondence for me. I can always show my tenancy agreement but this is not honoured as a proof of address.
