Maybe I used the wrong words but they can seize up. Happened last year to one of our cars that isn't used very much; it sat on the driveway for 2 weeks without being used, then when tried to use it the brakes ha dlocked up and it couldn't move.Care to explain how you wear the brakes out on a car standing still? :T

Obviously you don't 'wear' the brakes out by the car standing still, but there can be all sorts of other problems regarding sticking calipers and corrosion build up on the discs.Care to explain how you wear the brakes out on a car standing still?I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -

No sh *t, Sherlock but the post I quoted clearly stated a car being stood still can wear the brakes out.

In February I bought a 14 year old, 29k miles Lupo. It had been serviced every year, never failed an MOT and had only 2 advisories in its entire life, repairs for which were among the receipts.
Turned out to be an utter disaster and after some serious rigmarole and advice on here I took it back for a refund. Gearbox failed en route! I'll avoid low milers like the plague from now on.0 -
Again, I used the wrong words. You can damage the brakes. Ours became locked/stuck because the car had been still for so long. Can't remember if this was because the handbrake had been holding the car still for so long, or if it was the brakes on the wheels. No sh *t, Sherlock but the post I quoted clearly stated a car being stood still can wear the brakes out.
