Just to come back to this
I used NGT Lite today, on my laptop, to call the DVLA
It's much more stable than it was 6 months ago. Still not the easiest to use but now that it doesn't stutter so much it was much easier to have a conversation (me talking person on the other end talking and their conversation typed by relay person)0 -
not physically tethered, software 'tethered'
it can use a landline or mobile number
you install the software on your laptop or whatever you want to use it on (to read on) adn then add your phone number in the settings.
It then tells you to ring a number on your phone within 60 seconds.
Once you've done that it confirms that your phone and the other device are linked. You can link several phone numbers to the same device.
Then when you want to make a call, you launch the program on your laptop (click on it and check the symbol is green), dial 18001 and the phone number you want to dial on your phone, and the rest all happens on your laptop (or other device) in a window.
unless you dial 18001 ahead of a phone number your phone behaves entirely as it did without the app.0 -
if you google ngts Lite there's a thorough walk through how to with videos for each step too0
