I have been contacted several times to meet with Fisher investments.
They are looking for people with £250k or more to invest .. and they are promising returns way in excess of anything a pension will do.
I have just short of £850k in my various pensions pots, and considering trying to make (at least some of it) work a bit harder.
Anybody have experience of Fisher ... stability, performance, fees structure.

The main reason they contact you is to make money for Fisher from unsuspecting punters with lots of wealth...my advice would be to keep well away.0

Genuine, decent investment firms do not cold call.
Why would you prefer to deal with a cold caller and not a local IFA firm?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.1 -
Fisher, no, but it's not uncommon for people to think that pensions can't offer returns that pensions can really offer. Just what returns and for what types of investment were they claiming them?0

That is nonsensical. There's no such thing as "in excess of what a pension will do" because a pension is just a wrapper in which you can hold nearly every kind of investment except stupid ones such as vineyards and forests and hotel pods and the like (where scams abound).
So to say that they can return more than your pension could is like saying that they can return more than any of what might probably be 10-20,000 different investment areas.
Go an see an IFA who can advise on a better way than you are currently managing your investments (if thats your concern, what sort of return are you getting?) without making outlandish promises.0 -
I deal with a local IFA now
Just been contacted by Fisher ,.. initially with their "15 min retirement plan" no experience of them, hence my question.
At aged 60 trying to make sure I make the most out of the 'funds pot' ready for retirement.
Some colleagues have cashed in Pensions, bought property and have the rental income as their future.
Just looking at options.0 -
I don’t know who Fisher Investments are but I wish they would get out of my Facebook, Browser and email!0

That is why I am in information gathering mode.
Annuities for the future will seemingly not give me anywhere near what I need.0 -
I would of thought that a pot of that size would already be giving a very nice return per month/year, taking a lump sum out to buy a rental house would drop it down by 100-200k depending if you go with a homes under the hammer type project or a ready to go needing no more spent on it. Is the extra headaches of a rental worth the extra 1-5% per year that a rental would bring over your pension pot assuming a 4% return on it?
I think most who invest in rentals are doing so whilst they are mortgaged to the hilt for tax efficiency reasons with a long term view, you could do the same but you could well find yourself topping up the mortgage repayment if the rental income isn't enough.
I would also invest in a decent call blocker to prevent the cold calling scum annoying myself.Norn Iron Club member No 3530
