Old Style Daily thread. Thursday 6th April 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all,
Seems like only 5 minutes ago since I got in bed. Rubbish nights sleep for me unfortunately as hubby was restless. He doesn't just toss and turn, he takes over the bed.
A laundry day for me. Bedding needs to be changed and washed and I'm still on the hunt for the missing prescription.
Pc has gone down on me. It's knackered and was no more. It never did like Windows 10 so it's going back to Windows 7.
Onwards and forwards

Morning everyone
Judi - thanks for starting us off x How on earth did we both manage to post at exactly the same time!
Mods - Please delete my post.
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, light cloud and dry underfoot, hoping for some sunshine, will peg out the washing.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was pork steaks, mash, veg and gravy, victoria sponge or ice cream for dessert for those that wanted some. Tonight will be chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, veg and gravy.
Work yesterday was busy again, with a combination of not enough staff and it being the busiest time of year, pleased I'm on days' off now and not back to work until Saturday. Staff morale is non existent at the moment, so doesn't make for an easy atmosphere, it's no busier than it has been in the past years at this time. I just get on with it, in a couple of weeks it won't be this busy.
Today will be the normal chores "to do" list - firstly though, I''m taking my car to the garage for a service and MOT. Then into town to visit the bank/building society, then home to crack on with the washing/drying and ironing and housework etc.
Keep safe and well x

Morning JUDI and thanks for starting. This morning we have fog but it's forecast to burn away, or so they say!
We ended up with all three DGDs last night. Eldest was supposed to be staying at her dad's but his DP went into labour mid morning and had a little girl in the afternoon! They all wanted to see their new little sister so DD took them on to the hospital to meet her! She went back for them later and brought them here. They were all entranced.
They are all still asleep but will be to waken up when I have had my coffee and come round a bit. One too many wines at the carvery last night methinks!! As usual, though, we had an enjoyable night.
We have the gas service man due this afternoon for the annual check up. Better clean out the boiler cupboard which ends up full of clutter!
Have a good day all and HUGS where needed. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone. It's a chill start here, woke up with cold hands.
I went to bed fairly early yesterday and was asleep by just after nine, no idea why.
Today I'm going down to spend some time with with my DM and get some legal stuff out of the way.
TA - congrats to the family of the new baby
Happy Thursday everyone.0 -

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread judi.
I have just hung one load of washing on the rack and a second load is on the go now, for OH to clamber outside and hang on the line. This is my contribution to daily life so far, though I'm about to have a shower and I usually clean the washbasin afterwards. and I cleaned the loo but that's it.
Work today, office in the morning and then I'm doing a short training session for staff. I am a specialist worker and this is a specialism within a specialism. Once I have done that, I'm coming home.
And then that will be it for the week. Over the next few weeks I'll work fewer days as my job sometimes needs me to work later and we are meant not to build up extra hours, a total contradiction in terms.
I'm meant to be going out for drinks with a group of firmer colleagues tomorrow, we are now a bit scattered but remain in touch. I don't desperately want to but I think I will go but just for a quick glass of something. These tend to turn into very drinky evenings, and I usually get told about the hangovers acquired afer I've left. It isn't that I don't drink, but I don't much like coming home by myself if I've had more than one or two drinks, it makes me feel vulnerable.
I must get going, hope everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all,
Nice bright day here again off to work for me, its been quite a busy week as some schools in local areas have broken up already, the next two weeks will be mega busy and stress city !
Something and chips for dinner, will go and look in the freezer after this, Im not sure there is much but if not I will get some duck eggs from work and have egg and chips.
Shopping is being delivered tonight and I must put some work t-shirts onto wash.
Have good days al xx0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Judi
Chilly here but at least it's bright, work should be fun, the 'team' that I am supposed to be part of, fractured yesterday, I have no idea what happened, I may find out today, but one half were not speaking to the other half!
Today's after work jobs include delivering Easter eggs to the DGC, buying fish food, train tickets and yet another visit to the chemist to get a prescription filled.
My dining room table and chairs left the building yesterday so things are slowly moving.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning (((((((((( hugs )))))))))) if you need one.
Awake early, I seem to be waking earlier each day just now.
Managed another hour in the garden yesterday afternoon, More weeds to take out, it will take me several days at the pace I have to work at now.
OH still snoring away good style, wish I had his ability to sleep.
Hair cut this morning, it badly needs it. Have just about enough in my purse to cover it.0 -
Morning :hello:
I'm being targeted by flying thingsI opened the back door yesterday morning and a small bird flew past my head and made his escape
I have no idea what it was, it moved so fast. He must've been sat on top of the fridge freezer all night. And when I let the chickens out in the morning, I have to stand to one side while I open the door. One of them has taken to perching on a high shelf, when I open the door she launches herself out. I've also watched quite a few bees fly in over the last couple of weeks (one at a time, there's definitely no nest in the house, lol) so I've guided them back outside. What I need to know is; is Mother Nature telling me I'm great at this and it's confirmation that I should live in a house, a very big house in the country (how many of you sang that?! lol) – or is it a very strong hint that I'm getting in the way of natural goings on and I should leave well alone? :rotfl:
Dad has had rubbish test results from his bowel screening (I didn't realise all adults over 60 are offered this regularly) so had go for a colonoscopy. They found something but aren't 100% sure what, he's seeing the consultant today and will probably have to have blood tests and a scan. Not sure if that's the right order, mum was relaying info to me and was quite upset so it all came across a bit jumbled. Dad isn't the slightest bit concerned, he says the last test was clear so whatever this is is new, therefore they've caught it early, which is exactly what regular screening is meant to do and he's happy to just do whatever the doctors say and it'll all be fine as long as he does as he's told, thanks very much! Very logical, my dad
It's the Easter holidays next week so I'm taking Scampi out for runs as often as possible at the moment, when there's lots of kids around he doesn't cope at all so he'll be on the lead from saturday, for a fortnight. He won't be happy about it but he's having a great time at the moment
I'm managing to get most things done by taking my time and being careful. Vacuuming with my left hand isn't easy, I have to go slowly because I keep crashing into things
