Estate Agent refusing to remove my name from tenancy

Is it not the case, however, that if there is any ambiguity in a contract, it will often fall in favour of the party that did not write the contract? So, as the contract (or signed letter on headed paper) can be construed to mean more than one thing, it would be the OP's interpretation of the contract that would likely be accepted...
Not 100% positive but just a thought.

It would also be based on what was said prior to the contract being signed.
If the agent said "Sign this and you won't have to pay any more rent", the OP has a very strong case.
Obviously, it gets tricky if the agent disputes what was said.0 -
Was it also signed by the landlord or an agent acting on his behalf? If not is the letter at least on headed paper?
OP says it's on headed paper:I went in the Estate Agent with my brother so he is a witness to what went on.
The lady in the Estate Agents rang head office and they agreed to remove my name from the tenancy.
She wrote the above letter on their letter headed paper and got me to sign and hand the keys over.
Nothing was mentioned to me about my ex needing to agree or anybody else. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
