hi i have a danfoss 4033 time switch that has packed up so I brought a digital replacement and have wired it up according to wire diagram for a y plan 3 port valve system but now my heating and water come on together when only the hot water is switched on and my 3 port valve just sits in the middle clicking back and forth.
I have tried several ways to wire it up from y plan wiring diagrams but every time it does the same thing
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP BEFORE MY WIFE KILLS ME

You have told us the make and model of the discarded equipment, but how about telling us what you have replaced it with?0 -
IVE REPLACED IT WITH A Drayton LP2 (Mk4) Programmer0
-
How many cables do you have.
Should have live, neutral and earth and the then ch on, he on and a hw off. Do you know where the cables went on the old timer.0 -
It has five wires
blue(neutral)
white(central heating on)
grey(hot water off)
orange(pump and boiler live)
y/green(earth)0 -
Are you sure those cables are the timer cables and not the mid pos valve cables. Pump/ boiler live orange shouldn't be in the timer, that should be wired to the room stat/ cyclinder stat. Did the original timer have a built in connector block making it a wiring centre.0
-
The old timer should of had number connections
6-live
7-neutral
E-earth
4-hw on
5-hw off
2-ch on0 -
What is the exact model number as there are several starting LP2?0

sorry i thought you was on about the 3 port valve.
The new unit is a drayton lp112 mk4 it is a 4 wire conection
live
neutral
1. H/water off
2. C/heating off(not used)
3. H/water on
4. C/heating on
my old unit a danfoss 4033 was wired as follows
1. Linked to conection 6
2. H/water off (3 way valve grey wire)
3. Blank
4. (cylinder thermostat brown wire)
5. Heating on - (cylinder thermostat y/green wire)(3 way valve white wire)
6. Live - (pump brown wire)(fused switch brown)
7. Neutral - (3 way valve blue wire)(pump blue wire)(boiler black wire)(fused switch blue wire)(
8. Earth - (3 way valve y/green wire)(pump y/green wire)(boiler y/green wire)(fused switch y/green wire)(
9. H/water on - (3 way valve orange)(cylinder thermostat blue wire)(boiler red wire).
Hope this helps.0 -
1 - that link can go, the new timers links will be internal.
2 - will goto the new timers connection 1
3 - nothing
5 - do you mean room stat, then white of valve, if you do then it goes to new timer connection 4
6,7,8 - L N E
9 - does this goto cyclinder stat then orange on valve, if so then this goes to new timer connection 3
I'm abit confused with connection 4 is that going to the cyclinder stat common connection, if it does then this could be hw on and may need to go to the new timer connection 3 and your connection 9 may need joining together with a connector block and not connected to the new timer. Is the timer in the airing cupboard if so it may be easy to rewrite the cyclinder stat.0 -

that is how my old analog timer was connected but it doesn't seem to work.
Can you tell me how it should be wired up
there is no room stat just
cylinder stat - brown,blue,y/green
3 port valve white - grey, blue, orange, y/green
pump - brown, blue, y/green
bermuda back boiler - red, black, y/green
mains fused switch - brown, blue, y/green
its a y plan heating system
i have followed y plan wiring diagrams but all the time the hot water and heating comes on together and the 3 port valve keeps clicking only slightly back and forth in the middle position ?
The timer is in the airing cupboard.
Connection 4 is the brown wire from cylinder stat.
And the blue wire from the cylinder stat was connected to the connection block with orange from 3 port valve and red from boiler0
