Kitchen sink

I need to make a decision about what kitchen sink to get.

What does 18/10 stainless steel mean?

http://www.screwfix.com/c/bathrooms-kitchens/sinks/cat820366?brand=franke&cm_mmc=Bing-_-Franke-_-Franke%20-%20HVK%20-%20BMM-_-+franke__kenshoo_clickid_&utm_medium=&utm_campaign=Franke&utm_source=bing&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Franke&utm_term=%2Bfranke&utm_content=Franke%20-%20HVK%20-%20BMM&gclid=CKnk_d7IjdMCFYKwGwodHp4L4A&gclsrc=ds&dclid=CLKyhd_IjdMCFbIh0wodnQIKrQ

There are lots of different prices for Franke sinks (1.5 bowls), and I'm not sure why they vary so much. Is it the quality of the stainless steel, or the design or something else?

It is the ratio of chromium versus nickel.

But what does this mean in terms of the end user. Is this good, bad, medium?

What should I be looking for in a modern kitchen sink?

Go & look at them. Some are shiny, some are speckly & some are satin finish. Lean on them, some are sturdy & some as flimsy as paper.
18/10 is pretty standard, Google it if you want to know the details.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

In sink terms I have no idea. I specialise in flatware (cutlery) amongst other things and the 10 nickel means it is more durable, harder and less prone to rust.

18/10 is the best in terms of flatware.

If 18/10 is standard, what is better than that? I would like something a bit better than the standard one.

18/10 is the best as far as kitchen sinks go - I've never been asked to try and better it.

Thickness is the main difference 1.2 mm is high end, 1.0 is frankly no worse, I'm fitting a 0.8 at the moment (Franke Ascona) and the customer is very happy with it.

18/10 is not standard, it is the best, certainly as far as flatware is concerned. Flatware endures much more than a sink, an 18/10 sink is likely to be the best stainless steel sink you can have.

This post didn't show on my phone. This is very helpful and should explain the differences in easy terminology.

    Thanks.

I've been googling things all day, warning light came on car dashboard so I had to leave the car into the garage, and I'm getting error messages about my desktop hard drive which seems to be on the way out.

On top of that, they are starting to strip out my old kitchen on Friday, I'm having work done to finish my extension, and I'm feeling a lot more frazzled than I usually do.

I have to make final choices about my new front and side doors, the electrician was here today doing my first fix for my new extension so I had to make decisions about where to put things.

Thanks for all the suggestions from people on this forum. Very useful when time is short.
