Does Esure no claims entitlement apply elsewhere?
Options
Hi MSE folks – quick question. My car insurance is up for renewal. I made a claim last year to cover a wing repair that was my error (scraped against gatepost).
My current insurance is with Esure – before this claim I had 4 years no claims bonus and they have since reduced it down to 2 because of this claim.
I just wanted to check – is that 2 years only applicable if I renew with Esure or will I be able to use it if applying to other car insurance providers for quotes?
I am concerned that effectively I did make a claim and don’t want to get caught out by saying I have 2 years no claims if this is only the view of Esure on their particular product (for example another insurer may view this claim as a claim and therefor my NCB should be zero)??
Can I just go ahead and get quotes based on 2 years no claims or not?
Many thanks in advvance for all the good advice

Your NCB will be honoured by any insurer. What usually happens is that you send proof of NCD to your new insurer - this is usually in the form of your renewal invitation from your old insurer. But if the renewal letter doesn't show your NCD, just ask them and they'll send it to you, which you can pass on to your new insurer ( though to be honest, every time I've had a renewal letter it always says something along the lines of "Your premium for the coming year will be £x, taking into account y years NCD" ).0

Yep, 2 years is right. Just get your quotes based on that.0
