I’ve not heard of anyone who really understands the system and can make reliable forwards predictions. This is also hindered by the changing rules, and I suspect they will change again imminently.
I would put aside a couple of days, and slowly work through it all yourself. Most of it can be untangled.0 -

This seems very comprehensive, unfortunately I am not a consultant. Is there a similar spreadsheet for Nursing staff?0 -

There isn't, as the main issue this spreadsheet addresses is the effect of the tapered annual allowance for NHS staff in both the 1995/2015 schemes. This primarily applies to consultants, as they make up the vast majority of NHS employees with earnings high enough for the tapered annual allowance to be an issue.
Unless you earn >£110,000, your pension situation is likely much more straightforward. Is there something specific you are unsure about regarding your pension that we might be able to help with?0 -
I am also a nurse, I work for a GP surgery and am worried that my pension is being taken from my salary but not reaching the NHS pension provider. I am in both the 1995 and 2015 schemes and currently pay extra into my pension to buy back additional years. Whenever I check my statement the latest figures for the 1995 section only gives me up until 2016 but I have continued to buy back years after this. Neither do those additional payments show in the 2015 section statement. Anyone got any ideas where those additional years payments should show in my statements? Thanks.0

Surely your first step should be to contact the Administrator?

you need to contact them and ask for them to work out an estimate, husband is a Consultant and has been paying added years for over 20 years and was on the tapered protection but I also noticed the 1995 statement section was not increasing despite the added years payment being taken, when he rang the NHS pensions they have sent us an estimate, so much for everything being on the Total Rewards Statement0 -
Hi, on this topic we are trying to find out if I can retire early say 55 but not collect my NHS pension (2008 scheme) until 65 or 70. Is this something you can do and will my current pension pot still grow with interest or just inflation?

You can leave your job anytime and unless you qualify for and claim your pension, it’ll sit there until you do.benh123 said:Hi, on this topic we are trying to find out if I can retire early say 55 but not collect my NHS pension (2008 scheme) until 65 or 70. Retirement is generally used to mean leaving your job AND claiming your pension, so a small subset of those leaving a job.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -
Hi,
I am a consultant, have been in the 1995 NHS Pension Scheme with full protection. Will be 60 and will retire in October 2021. I took a break from the Pension Scheme since January 2018. I would like my pension to be calculated based on my salary at retirement, and not based on my salary when I stopped contributing. Anyone knows if I have to rejoin the Scheme, and how long before retirement?0
