Morning all,
Couldn't book a court for badminton yesterday so I had the evening to myself. Filled up in petrol, went to Aldi and came home to make a few things and prep dinner for tonight. Boring.
Football tonight which I'm looking forward to. Apart from that, nothing exciting.
Have a super day everyone.0 -
TA, my dad had a real thing about trying to find the perfect sausage. He remembered fondly the sausages of his youth which split easily and ended up with caramelised crispy bits down them. He was never able to replicate them unfortunately.
I won't bore on about me uneventful life at the moment so I hope you all have a good day.0 -
I start my first session of library volunteering this afternoon so will have a brunch of bacon, beans, egg and toast before I leave to keep me going till after 6p.m.
Not sure if a dd might pop in tonight so have chicken breasts out to defrost and some potato salad in the fridge. Have a cucumber to use up so thinking of making a dip with it and using the unhappy looking baby carrots in a beef stew that can be topped with mash or pastry. If the weather gets warm then the beef can be turned into a pasty to have cold.
The garden at the back is beginning to take shape. Finding bricks, stones and rubbish in the soil of the raised bed meant it took longer than expected to get ready for roses arriving in the next week. The gardener is coming back tomorrow to do a bit more and we had a chat about what else needs to be done.
It seems to be nothing but spend right now but once the front and back are planted etc then it should take much less time and money to keep it looking decent. Someone is coming round one evening to discuss what can be done with one of the upstairs bedrooms like maybe a fitted wardrobe to make better use of the space.

Would the system cope better with ordering for four weeks even if that is more than needed. It seems bad to waste resources but just the to ing and fro ing must cost the place.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

I found a hairline crack on a bedroom wall and decided to paint over it this morning. It looked fine while the paint was wet but now it is drying it is starting to look as bad as ever
Can't face having to get it scraped out and mended so wondering if putting my nice chair in front of it (where it was going to go anyway) and hanging a pretty large canvas over the chair would work or if it is a cop out.
Pleased that I managed to renew the postal redirection for a year as a lot of DDs mail used to come to me while they were at uni etc. and I don't want to lose anything important."This site is addictive!"

Afternoon ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Lovelyday, a walk round to the little chapel for coffee, just us two and the pastor at first but eventually it filled up nicely, so lots of chat.
OH is out in the garden. A friend has agreed to come and help screw the posts to the wood, I asked him how much he would charge, was told to pay him in rhubarb!!
Waiting for the chap to come and finish the gate and also have a chat about the paving in the garden, have decided to take more of the lawn out to make a slightly bigger area to sit. Will pot up the camelia and pot the pot on the patio. I do need to get in and get some of the weeds out and also plant the bushes. After a lot of shilly shallying I have decided to buy compost in 125 litre bags from B & Q and spread it all over the herbaceous bed, let the worms take it down, will spread another load at the end of the season and do the same next spring. It works out cheaper than getting a bulk load , and we will get the wrinklies discount if we get it on a wednesday.
Visit to see GGS went okish, I was not too happy, despite knowing that we were going, they were out when we got there and no apology for leaving us waiting for 25 minutes for them to arrive. No manners some people. I still have not been thanked by GD for the play mat, although I know she is using it just now as a quilt on the pram.
Tea for tea and them maybe an hour in the garden to do a bit more weeding and maybe move some plants.0 -
Afternoon all.
Had a disturbed night as was awakened with a loud bang about midnight, so got up, looked around the house and found nothing out of place, so went back to bed. At 12.30 am I could hear loud voices outside, it was two paramedics trying to get in next door to my elderly neighbour. Then two police cars turned up and I overheard the conversation that her daughter was not willing to come with the key. (Unfortunately she has had a new door fitted so my key doesn't work anymore.) Cue much banging and shouting until 1.45 when everyone left, but by now I was wide awake and DH was still asleep! Went back to bed about 4am so now I am shattered.
We promised to take Dad shopping to large F*rmF**ds over the valley and then lunch this morning and have only just returned but at least I don't have to cook tea.
Will have to read back properly when I've had another coffee.
Hugs to all who need/ want them.

PS Specky wish I'd had a boring night ! Want to swap ?

Oh dear, I hope the neighbour is ok?
Upon reflection, a boring night isn't too bad after all.0 -
Just got back! The trip to Oban went well, the woman and her friend must have bought out T*sco's and FF as my car was packed to the gunnels. She has been to Oban since October last year so was making the most of it. I sat in the cafe and got on with my book, it's still the Val McDermid which I had trouble getting into, now I want to finish it!
I've put my defrosted chicken, the remainder of the roasted cauli and some new potatoes in the oven to heat up - gagging for food - and got a bottle of wine out ready to pour at the magic hour.
Despite hanging about for most of the day I enjoyed being able to do something for this family, all the problems they have must wear the mother down. She's got two crutches because of her leg, has had a liver transplant and other problems... I just hope that I get some help if I ever need it.
I imagine that Camelot is at the station with her aunt and will, VERY shortly be in bed catching up with her sleep and getting better too.0 -
Thanks Specky.
Quick update - managed to speak to neighbour, apparently she fell out of bed again and was unable to get back up. DH told her to put more water with her gin :rotfl:. Bless her she's tea total and always has been but it did make her laugh.

I am glad your neighbour is not badly hurt or ill but it must have been a nasty shock.
I got back from my first session volunteering at the library and really enjoyed it but did not get home till well after six thirty only to find a note to say a couple of parcels had been delivered to the wrong address. I trotted round quickly expecting it to be a couple of small parcels only to find to my consternation that it was two massive great heavy containers  I had to partially unpack them and go to and fro about six times to get stuff home. The notification that the boxes had been dispatched was not e mailed to me till four o clock this afternoon so pretty useless.
I have just sent a not very happy e mail to the company pointing out that this level of activity for a 65 year old woman not long out of hospital was not a very good idea and that the whole point of using the company was so I did not have to drag heavy items around.
Think I might need an early night as I am exhausted now.
