This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all
I can't sleep, I've been up since 4am and no point trying now as it's nearly time to get up for work.
Yet another trip to the Dr's today, just how hard is it to get a prescription for 3 weeks instead of 2, very it would seem. There may be blood on the carpet in the reception area if they cannot get it sorted today. This has been going on since last Thursday!!
I'm still chopping up hundreds of pieces of card for the last day of term, how many trees are being sacrificed so that the students can all share an activity, most of them won' bother and the local area will be covered in the card on the last day of term!
I have another list of things to achieve after work ready for our trip to move the boat, including delivering Easter eggs to the DGC.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone
Hester - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but very cloudy and overcast, it's forecast to be like this all day, it's cooler too.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was meatballs and spagetti with a creamy tomato sauce, menfolk had a breaded chicken portion each as well as it's "not enough meat"! I remembered to get the pork steaks out to defrost, so tonight we'll be having those with mash, veg and gravy, I'll also put a jam and cream filling in the sponge, that will be dessert for those that want some.
Yesterday work was again very busy, so many customers not happy, moaning etc. We had no manager either, so when someone decided to shove a folded up note into the cash machine, the machine was out of action and even though we took it apart as much as we could we couldn't find the missing note, so on the Manager's arrival late in the afternoon, she took the machine apart and we found one very mushed note in the mechanics of the machine - but at least we found it, customer informed and hopefully now sorted. I'm in an office on my own today, except for just covering some time over lunches to help out, I don't find the telephone work anywhere near as bad as a lot of my colleagues who majority of them hate it. Once I'm finished today then I'm on days' off until Monday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning, sorry that you have had such a bad night Hester, I got up 15 minutes after you but I had gone to bed very early and was asleep almost instantly. I do know how draining it feels though as many nights are like yours.
I have an office day today, not hugely fascinating but I do need to catch up with paperwork and planning.
I have worked late quite a lot recently so might come home early. Washing ready for OH to hang out, things are drying so much faster now so hoping for another nice bright day.
Hoping that everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all,
Looks like the start of another nice day. Hubby and Youngest left for work an hour ago and the hounds haven't stired all night.
A quiet morning for me then this afternoon I've got my whirlwind of a Grandson. I must remember to hide the scissors and Grandads toolbox cause all I seemed to say to him last week was 'No!'
All quiet on the home front I'm pleased to say.
Onwards and forwards

Morning folks and thanks HESTER. I had yet another restless night, how I wish for a long uninterrupted sleep now and then.
Lots of running around etc to do today, starting with a trip to DB's to collect our yummy sausage order. But, oh dear, bad news on that front - the butcher who makes them is retiring at the end of the month!! Tragedy! DB has had another sausage maker recommended up in Cracoe but it seems a long way to go for sausages! DB is rather a sausage connoisseur though, so I am leaving it in his capable hands!
Then a visit to the tip with dozens of near empty paint cans, full tubs of emulsion I didn't like the colour of, etc. Mr TA decided to have a clear out yesterday. Followed by Dunelm to collect some cushions I reserved, then Sainsbob's pharmacy for our scripts and finally Aldi for the weekly shop.
The two youngest DGDs are then here from school for tea and sleepover. Tea will involve sausages from the new order. Not for me though as it's my first Wednesday of the month wine and carvery night with the "girls" and I am looking forward to the usual catch up of gossip and a few laughs.
Have a good day and (HUGS) to those in need. KARCHER especially, you sound so down just now. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
Still got strong winds here, they blew and battered all night.
I'm off up to Oban again today taking an outpatient for an appointment. My new garden chairs are now stowed in the back barn still in their covering. Once the swallows return they'll be nesting in there and they are liberal with their 'offerings'. Same with the front barn so I'll need to park the car somewhere else for the summer. It's almost like they take offence at the car being in the way.
Waffling, sorry!
I've taken some chicken out of the freezer for today, will be using up the roasted cauliflower and have new potatoes.
I hope everyone enjoys their day, happy Wednesday to all. Get better soon to those under the weather.0 -
Morning all,
Lovely bright day here although cold.
Little Evie has woken full of energy and keeps shaking Mr Barkington (sorf toy) like he is a rat and he must be got !! she is running in and out of the lounge with him and keeping us laughing.
Off to work for me nice calm week this week as boss is away. We are gearing up for the Easter holidays next week.
Dinner tonight is fish with some new potatoes and peas, nice and easy. Finally done the shopping last night which will be delivered Thursday, so at least we can eat after then !
Karcher hugs to you, you sound very down xx
Have good days all xx0 -

Morning All
Overcast but dry for the moment, hope the breeze stays with us as I have a large white load to get dry.
Yesterday stayed dry for our visit to Bute, fantastic scenery and a really good day out. Aunt was so tired she went to bed at 9. She hasn't surfaced yet today, we are going to an exhibition at Clydebank Town Hall all about the Singer Sewing machines. Late lunch to follow and then will need to have Aunt at the station as the train leaves at 5.
I made a chorizo risotto for dinner last night, really enjoyed it for a change. Happy Wednesday! Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Dry, bright but cold here too.
Off to nursery this morning to pick up some compost, found a couple of packets of salad leaf seeds in 'the' drawer so want to plant them out, need to have a look at strimmers as well after ours gave up the ghost last summer.
Gers we have the same problem with the house sparrows that nest in the eaves, their offerings hit the path and I seem to be constantly washing it down.
Have a good day folks.0
