I agree it would be interesting to show how people with very little money can eat well and inexpensively rather than following the supermarket high fat/high sugar cheap stuff they try to push.
However, it is important not to make assumptions: people may have big houses and flash cars but also car loans, huge mortgages and massive credit card debt and making no provision for their future because of this. Carrying on wasting money is not the way to go - so maybe a bit of both - the apparently well off and the obviously not well off?If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

I thought the format was far better than the Greg BBC version. Suzannah and 'Dave' were kept under control and I liked the wider issue content like food waste.

I just caught up with this yesterday. While they did have a huge slab of pork, they clearly didn't use anything like all of it in the curry as the bowl of curry wasn't all that big, so they are clearly just costing based on what they are using for the meal and not for the cost of all the ingredients bought.0

I also preferred it to the BBC version and felt that the recipes were realistic family meals.0

I think this is very true that we don't know the facts about the family finances. The house will probably have a mortgage and the car is probably on finance. I say this because few people can be that age and mortgage free or buy an expensive car for cash.
More importantly, both partners may have no pension provision. There appear to be loads of people in their 30's and 40's sleep walking towards a poverty stricken later life.0 -
I liked the onions-in-tights idea (I have plenty of tights past their best, which I wear under jeans at home to keep me warm
). This tip has encouraged me to buy a bag now I know they could last for six months this way, which may in turn encourage me to cook occasionally!

A bit off topic but she's a joy compared with Alex Jones and the grating accent of Steph McGovern. Their's is a ridiculous programme as they seem to go out of their way to not tell you where to buy the better value items.
One woman bought - on impulse - a 2nd hand Range Rover that was £8K over their budget.
She also 'had to have' a new outfit every time she went out with friends when the reality was they couldn't even remember what she'd been wearing. :rotfl:0 -
