Urgent can somone offer an estimate for painting metal railings? london? ....

1 Hi i wonder if someone could kindly help me? I need a rough estimate of what it would cost to paint exterior metal railings in London?

i'm having my exterior metal railings painted? The dimensions are approx. 8.2 long by 1.5 metres high x 2 The paint that is on them is severely flaking in parts! i'm asking for it to prepared, sanded down as little as possible and then primed and painted with a Hammerite all in one paint? The paint will be a two-in-one primer topcoat metal paint - so basically one coat.

The railing are not too intricate but they have struts every two inches? and also a handrail at the top. The railing go from my door 1st floor and then slope downwards with the steps leading down to the ground floor.

I'm in London kennington. could someone professional possibly give me an indication of the cost? So i don't get ripped off. I'm a single mother and i cant afford to be conned or over-charged too much by could some-one kindly offer me an estimate based on this.

    Why is this urgent?

Does the cost differ because you are a single mother?

No one can afford (or want )to be conned.

    Have you had any quotes?

Ask the decorators what paint they advise. Hammerite may not be the best choice.

Without wishing to get into a "it is! It isn't" argument, you can't really expect anyone else to see painting railings as being an urgent job.
Get quotes from local painters is the best you're going to get from a forum. Too many variables.

As above. I run a property maintenance company. I would never quote without seeing a job.

If you want it to be done in that way, have you considered doing it yourself? It doesn't sound difficult! I think you will struggle to find somebody who will do a decent job in you way - sanding down as little as possible sounds like something a bodger would do, and whatever you pay for that will be a rip-off. Better to do it properly once, surely? If I had to choose between a quick fix that will need repeating every year or two, or saving up (and having them look messy for a while) to get a proper job done, I'd wait.
