Asking for photo id to process PPI refund

I made a PPI claim using the template on the Resolver website. I received a letter from NRAM regarding a loan I had with Northern Rock. They have made an offer which would like to accept but they reqire photo ID.
It says
"I require photographic identification (Passport/Driver's Licence) from you for our signature verification records. Without this information I will be unable to proceed with the agreed refund.".
I have neither as I do not have a passport and have never learned to drive. I have an expired provisional licence from when I briefly owned a moped but that is all. What can I do? I didn't have to supply photo ID to obtain the loan in the first place. Please help!

You contact them and tell them what you have told us here. See what they suggest.

I am also interested in this question as I currently have a photo id card which expires later this year. My photo id was purchased for me by a previous employer in 2012 as it was also a tachograph card for driving 7.5 ton vehicles. My ordinary car license is a old style paper(non photo) which does not run out till 2025.
A DL photo idea is very handy but I don't plan on driving 7.5 ton again any time soon. I don't have a problem with photo id but I don't really want to pay for it

In the circumstance, I don't think you will have any option. It doesn't have to be a Driving Licence, of course, a passport will do.

  • I called them and they said a photocopy of my expired provisional licence would be OK as long as my signature hasn't changed. They also accept a photocopy of the front and back of a credit or debit card (with all the numbers blanked out of course) to show name and signature.
  • I have not been offered a sum of money but am being asked to send passport utility bill and driving license proof. I sent passport signature with no passport numbers on and utility bill without account number on and signature and address on driving license without license number. This was all refused and I am concerned if I sent complete details I am open to I’d theft and fraud. Is it common to ask for these documents? I went throug reclaimppi.co.uk.

    Deal direct with the lender.

I wouldn't give a claims company the time of day, let alone my passport.

Redacted ID cannot always be used.
My husband sent a scan of his photo card to our IFA whom we know and trust with some info redacted (covered 70),
They said they could not accept it.
