Enviromentally Friendly Paint Remover

Is there a way that's enviromentally friendly to remove paint? I need to remove gloss around a cupboard door and a window frame - I've checked the ingredients and they all contribute to CFCs in the atmosphere (Kudos to the makers, they actually say that on the tin). Is there another alternative - I don't trust myself with a heat gun.
addendum: It should be paint and not pain - though an eviromentally friendly pain remover would help in the office.

Instead of a heat gun sometimes a hair dryer can give enough heat to do the job not so much risk of setting yourself on fire either!I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0

Hi Muffintop,
You should get more help with this on the In My Home board so I've moved your thread across for you.

Sandpaper + elbow grease
Can't get much more environmentally than that surely?
