Car insurance - new build home

Hi all,

I am due to move into a new build house in a few weeks time and my car insurance runs out fairly soon after. I have tried to get some quotes for my new postcode but I'm not sure what's happening. On comparison sites, I put in the postcode but my house number doesn't come up, when I select one which does on the same estate and get the quotes back I only get about 5 quotes, apparently over 100 providers won't insure me based on the details. Of all of the quotes, the cheapest is double what I would be paying at my existing address. According to online postcode ratings, I'm currently in a C rated area and moving to an A rated area.

I figured this might be the case due to when the routine credit search is carried out, it shows I don't yet live at that address, is this correct? Once I've moved in and everything is reflected is it likely the price will go down?

It seems madness I'm moving to a better area with a lower risk postcode yet I can't get insurance from 95% of insurance companies, it definitely doesn't seem right.

When I put my neighbours house number in at my current address, the exact same thing happened too btw.

Thanks in advance

You will have to phone Insurers or local brokers and they will need to select nearby postcode. Sometimes with a brand new postcode, the Insurers won't have it on their systems and it can cause problems, particularly online quotes.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Comparison sites can only cope with a limited range of straightforward situations. Beyond this human intervention is required and you have to do it the old fashioned way - by picking up the telephone.
