Chain Free Buying

Hi All,
I'm after some advice...
I'm in the process of purchasing a property. Advertised as chain free. My solicitor is ready to sign contracts and provide completion date, but the vendors solicitors have advised me they are waiting for a search back due to an underpinning issue that they will need to forward to the vendors mortgage company!?
It seems the vendors are now in a chain and are looking to purchase. This has a detrimental effect on my current living situation. I soon will not have a residence to stay in and costs will mount up in hotel/storage fees etc...
Where do I stand legally?
Any help is appreciated!

Not much you can do - you will have to be able to prove that you were intentionally mislead, and by whom - the Estate Agent, the vendor? Plans change, peope change their minds, and Agents won't always conduct extensive due diligence on their clients next steps.
Hang om in there, or threaten to pull out with an appropriate deadline. But then you're back to square one. What's happening with your current place, can you extend that?0 -
Thank you for your response. It was the Estate Agents who advertised it as chain free, I have also met with the vendors who told me the same.0

As above neither party is contractually obliged until exchange so the phrase no chain is meaningless. Some no chain purchases take ages some proceed quickly. It's about as meaningless as good little runner in car terms.
Notice should never be given on rented accommodation until exchange anyway so as to avoid the possibility of the purchase not completing.
Is there any chance of the vendors moving into rented so their sale can complete before their linked purchase?Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...
Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.0
