I have to go into my branch every single month or I cannot get my wages as work still pays everything with cheque0

Used to go once a month but everytime I want to do something other than pay in cash they refer me to online or telephone banking so I've given up going into the bank now...Balance at start of mortgage Dec 2011 £87500

I haven't used my bank branch for over a year but I have recently used my mother-in-law's banks to register Power of Attorney. I can see that this would be difficult to do without a branch as all of them needed to see the certified copy of the LPA along with two forms of ID for myself, as attorney.
I regularly pay in cheques for my mother-in-law but I refuse to make a special trip so I just post to her local branch with a letter including account details to pay into.
We are also lucky that our local Spar shop has a post office counter that we can bank cash/pay in cheques into. As it is open from 7am - 10pm 7 days a week I can see them taking business from branches long-term.Mortgage free wannabeMortgage (November 2010) £135,850Mortgage (November 2020) £4,7840 -
I only use it for paying in cash. I don't like doing that at the atm's outside and the nearest branch to me is just a paying in machine and atm. Don't actually know where the nearest one with a counter is.

Agree with others that the results would have been more meaningful if the poll had also included an indication of the reason for the branch visit. I have done my banking online for as long as I can remember, and certainly not visited my own branch for 40+ years! However, it was necessary from time to time to visit a local branch to pay in a cheque - until I thankfully discovered a year or two back that my small rural Post Office can handle that!0

The nearest local town to me had 3 banks when I moved here 20 years ago. Today all 3 have closed down. For a town with numerous building projects and a growing population I find it a baffling change.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

I last used my branch on Saturday to cash in a PPI reclaim cheque. I also used it a couple of months ago to cash in a cheque. Both cheques were issued by banks. If banks are still issuing cheques instead of payment transfers, then they should provide the facilities to cash it in.0

It's not so easy to use a branch of a bank anymore because there are so few of them and getting fewer.
I use to use my local branch at least once a week often more but that closed a couple of years ago. I started to use online because of that but still traveled to my nearest main town branch at least once a month to draw cash out as I didn't like using the hole in the wall machines and if there are any issues with anything I prefer to speak to someone face to face. Now I've had a letter to say that will be closing in Summer as well so I'm a bit up the proverbial creek as the next nearest one is too far for me to get too. Though I like the bank I'm with I thought ok I'd have to move to a different bank, but we've got two left, Natwest and Lloyds, I've now found out that the Natwest local branch is also closing and there are clouds of doubt hanging over the Lloyds branch.

I use my branch to pay in change as I have coin jars, and cheques/cash when they are open (but use the ATM when it is closed). I also visited to update my address and open an account, but only as it wouldn't let me do this online.0

I went into TSB before Christmas to pay a bill. The lady that served me was very nice and I thought ( as she was older than me ) is'nt it nice to see some one as mature as she was behind the counter. She asked me if I did'nt do online banking but I said no I did'nt as I have always prefer the personal touch. She then mentioned online banking benefits and again I said I was'nt interested. Eventually I got fed up of hearing about online banking. I told her 'If we all did online banking she would'nt have a job'. Needless to say she went quiet. Too much of sort yourselves out these day's then when there is a problem you are stuck. SAme as with the 'fast pay tills'0
