Spark Energy - HELP!!
My partner and I have been renting our 3 bed end of terrace house since January last year. when we moved in we were automatically signed up to Spark Energy.
Previously I had always been on a pre pay metre, topping up at the corner shop, so knowing how much I used to spend on my own i figured that for the two of us we should pay around 50 quid a month.
all was well for a few months and then all of a sudden we had communications from Spark energy to say we were woefully short of what we had been using. the DD was changed to 135 quid a month and has been that amount since about June or July of last year.
Today, we have been told that the amount used between December and April is over £900.
I've read a few reviews and it seems to be quite a common tactic with them to suddenly hike the price up.
Myself and my other half are at our wits end and baffled with the entire situation! does anyone have any advice on this?
keen to hear from anyone who may have had the same issue, what happened? how did you sort it?
HELP!!

It's quite possible that Spark are basing your bills entirely on estimates.
Have you been reading your meter and sending them to Spark.
Have you a recent bill and does it say E or Estimated - what is the reading and ho does it compare with your actual reading from today ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

Welcome to MSE :hello:
First question has to be, have you consulted a comparsion site to find the best deal for you?
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/you-switch-gas-electricity?
In realtion to your question, have you calculated the cost of your consumption based on actual meter readings?
If so, do you think the level of monthly payment now set (bearing in mind any account debit balance) is fair?
If not, this MSE article will assist

Hi DaBall86
Thanks for your post.
I agree with Footyguy and Robin9 that it's possible you've been billed on estimates.
I'd really like to help you get this sorted out. Would you be able to contact me using the email address in my profile please? I'd need:- Confirmation of your full name
- Confirmation of your full supply address
- Your move in meter readings
- Your up to date meter readings
Kind regards
Jenny
