If you are between 16 and 25 and have a Young Persons railcard (£20) you can get a massive 50% off TransPennine Express train fares!
:money:
There are some restrictions:
You can travel on any return journey on a First TransPennine Express train between 9.30 and 16.30, and 18.30 and 7.00 Monday-Friday and anytime on Saturdays and Sundays. You have to book in advance up to 18.00 the day before you travel and you must travel on the train and date specified.
But it's still a really good deal!

And just a reminder to everyone that the Young Persons Railcard gives a 1/3 off most offpeak trains with the other rail operators.
It costs just £20 a year or you can get a 5 year pass free from Natwest with a Student Account. They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0 -
Thanks for that0

If you live in the Highlands you can get a Highland Rail Card which will give you 50% off rail travel too.
But if you're going back and forth a few times a week and you're in Scotland, the cheapest thing to do if you're using Scotrail is to get a 10 journey flexipass...
A day return for me is £14
A Higland Rail card would take that down to £7
But with the 10 journey flexipass, it's £26 for 10 journeys, so £2.60 each way!
(plus they'll print you a nice receipt when you buy it so you can claim your travel back from SAAS!)
Pay off as much as you can in 2011 challenge #116 £394.24/£6722.580
