    Hi,

So I just signed a contract for a new flat, but I'm a bit worried about the gas meter and the boiler.

The agency did send a guy from some independent gas company that the agency clearly know from before.

First he didn't give me the copy of the Gas Safety Record, I had to ask for it before he left and he didn't explain anything on it.

The protective equipotential bonding satisfactory failed, and he told me that the agency should fix it.

I don't trust the agency or the gas guy, here is 2 photos of the gas meter.

Is there anything I should be worried about?

It's the first time I have a own property in the UK so don't now anything about these gas stuff.

    Thanks!

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but if the gas safety certificate you have been provided with indicates some work is required for safety reasons, then you should demand that work is carried asap and that a renewed safety certificate is issued.

I'm not sure what you mean by not trusting the gas engineer. Most established landlords/agents will of course have contractors they have used before and trust. The engineer needs to be appropriately qualified and approved, so better to trust him than anonymous users on the internet here.

But if you really don't trust him, pay for someone you do trust.

If you call 0800 111 999 with concerns about gas equipment safety, national grid will send someone round to check it. This is a free service, but they are limited in what they can do on the domestic side, and if they do find a fault, their solution may be to cap your gas off entirely and place a prohibition notice until you (or your landlord/agent) can get a gas safe registered engineer out to re-instate it.

May be an extreme solution based on what you've said, but whoever they send will be independent of your landlord & their preferred contractor.
