Bank account for Pool League finances?

I have just been appointed treasurer of local pool league and am looking for a new account to stick the money in. They are using an old Abbey one which has poor interest now so time for a move.
I wonder what accounts are available and whether it is ok for a non registered company (charity?) to open one.
We could probably make do with a 30 day notice account seeing as we know when our withdrawals will be needed.
Any suggestions for current deals?

could do with some help on this if anyone has any ideas. we don't want any tax implications for our own finances, just an account in the League's name which will earn interest before we need it again at the end of the season to buy trophies etc.
anyone know anything about this stuff?0
