O/S Daily thread Monday 3 April 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, but very misty, but hopefully it will be another sunny bright day once it burns off.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, although he's asked for a lift as far as my work and he'll walk to the gym from there and then home again afterwards.

Dinner last night was spare ribs in bbq sauce, chicken in a creamy sauce, veg rice and stir fry veg in hoi sin - all eaten and enjoyed. Tonight should have been meatballs and spagetti, but I forgot to get the meatballs out to defrost so we'll have fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for tonight and I'll gee the meatballs out to defrost overnight tonight and they can be cooking whilst hairdresser is here tomorrow night and then I'll just cook the spagetti - so a reasonably quick meal.

We have had a beautiful weekend weather wise here, although yesterday the temperature dropped just after 4pm. The weather looks looks not so good for this week though.

Back to work for me today, it will be possibly one of our busiest days' of the year - what joy! The day races past though, it wasn't as busy as we thought it would be on Saturday, so we'll see.

Keep safe and well x

    Thanks for the thread nmlc.
I'm off to work in a sec, I've done 2 loads of washing since I got up and they are on the line outside, there is a 3rd load ready to go out and the DW needs emptying. We break up on Friday, yay, then it's up to collect the boat and bring her home, I can hardly wait.
This week is going to be manic, I have hundreds of revision booklets to print off and a list of jobs to do after work each day.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Post eaten by Internet again.

Good morning, thanks for thread nmlc

Slept well and feel human, what a relief, the weekend has been less fun through being tired so I'll have some early nights now.

Must get a wiggle on, heavy week ahead.

    Hope everyone well

Its been a beautiful weekend weather wise but turning really cold in the evening and mornings, I have flicked the heating on for 20 mins this morning.

Back to work for us all today the weekend goes in a flash, im sure the week days don't go this quick !

Got some chicken left from yesterday so tonight's dinner will be cold chicken mash and salad, I have found the last few times Ive eaten it that salad makes me feel really uncomfortable and bloated, bilious is a good way to describe it, I think it may be the rocket which I love, but Im going to start cutting out some thing at a time and seeing if its that, its really a most uncomfortable feeling.

Got to do an online shop tonight and put a wash on. Hopefully Roger will be here today to do the lawn.

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning folks. Sorry I have been AWOL these last few days. Mr TA's appt on Wednesday wasn't very uplifting and after four years of treatment, scans and tests, worrying and waiting, everything just got on top of me. I am not usually one to crack in the face of adversity and can just battle on but this time I did. He is now awaiting a brain scan and appt with a Neurologist.

I have given myself a good talking to and prioritised my worries. What I can do anything about I am taking baby steps to tackle.

On a brighter note, DS has got a cottage back in our village. Two doors away from DD (he'll be sorry!!) and not far from us and his ladyfriend. He'll be further away from work again but he says that's a small price to pay when he will be near all those who matter to him. He gave notice to vacate his batchelor pad at the end of the month and can have the keys to the cottage on the 28th so good timing.

Even better timing is the fact he wants our old sofas, as our new ones are being delivered tomorrow. These are now in storage in his gf's garage and we are sitting on sun loungers till tomorrow. Just hope we don't get any visitors in the meantime.

Today promises to be a nice day and the sun is already shining. Got all the bedding washed and dried yesterday and today I intend tackling the moss ridden paths and drive with Jeye's fluid. It'll be a big job so don't expect to get it all done in one day.

Have a nice day all and thanks for the good wishes. (HUGS) to those in need xx

    Morning everyone.

Lovely to see you TA, sorry about the tough news. Xx

JackieO - have a lovely holiday, well, done for keeping the secret.

My day is looking grey and damp, unfortunately more rain is forecast for later today. The house is almost sparkling and the washing is up to date. The task for today is to take cardboard to the tip and sort out the 'full' work email inbox this morning.

I've made a load of egg mayo, using up eggs before they went off. I've also cut up a cauliflower to blanche and freeze.

Hugs all round, happy Monday to all.

TA a big hug from Blackpool is winging its way to you & Mr TA xx

Work today, DH is travelling off somewhere too (woohoo! He's been at home under my feet since July!). We both put in four-hour stints at the lottie yesterday, It's starting to look a lot better than it did.

Need to put a wash load in and make my sandwich for lunch, then i am having egg fried rice and steamed Chinese dumplings for my tea, using up left over boiled rice from Saturday.

    Morning all,

Sorry to hear your news TA. Hope you don't have to wait too long to see the neurologist. Much love. xxx

Youngest is now the proud owner of the first car he has paid for himself. His Dad bought him his first but it's dropping apart and he needs a reliable car for work. I went with them yesterday just to make sure his Dad didn't push him into buying a car he didn't like (or wasn't 'cool'). He'd got his heart set on a Seat Ibiza but fell in love with a Fiat 500. Certainly not cool and me and his Dad kept asking him if he was sure but he was adamant it was the car for him. To be honest, he loves white cars and the deep red leather seats sold it to him.

Of course he's had the mickey taken out of him by workmates and even his Sister but they don't appreciate the financial burden insuring a car for a 21 year old male and he's paying it all himself on an apprentice wage.

Hubby was productive yesterday. He's almost completed the security on the side of the house. Such a lot left to do but he's promised me he will crack on with it over his Easter break.

Lots to do in the house today....I'll start in a minute...or two.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's forecast to be another bright sunny day. We had a lovely weekend here, just right for all the grockles who descend upon us for their Easter holidays. I love to see tourists wandering around our lovely town, I just take it for granted having lived here all these years so it's a good reminder of what a beautiful place it is when you see all the visitors coming here specially.

First day of the Easter holidays for my girls so I am letting them have a nice long lie in before I crack the whip. DD14's support worker is coming here for a first visit this afternoon so I need it to be clean and tidy so she doesn't think we live in a hovel :D.

I don't know what to make for tea yet. We have a lot of leftover beef from yesterday but it was so tough I am going to have to casserole it for a long while to make it edible.

Travelling Abuela, I'm sorry the news wasn't great from the hospital. Hope you get some time and space to process it x
JackieO, have a wonderful holiday and well done for managing to keep the secret for so long.
redruby, I find salad to be very difficult on my tum especially since I had my gallbladder out. I still eat it but have to stay near the loo, sorry TMI I know :o .

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

A bit overcast this morning, don't think the rain is far away. Washing fairly up to date anyway, it dried a treat outside yesterday.

My Aunt is here, still snoozing I think, we're off to the Royal Yacht when she gets up. She'll love it as she is a big fan of the royal family. I may have to find a tea room!

DD and BF came for dinner, we had a lasagne - ok but not the best, I think we'll have a curry tonight.

    Have a great holiday JackieO.
Sorry you're feeling a bit down TA, big hugs.

Have a good Monday. Take care. XX
