    It sounds very overkill to cut the pipes into the walls. Not to mention expensive and a potential problem when there are leaks etc. My floors are concrete and when we had new CH put in years ago, the pipes were all run round under the bedroom floors and just dropped down to the radiators below where needed.

    In most cases, the radiators are under a window, so the pipes are hidden by the curtains day and night. Even where there's not a window, they drop down close to a door frame or similar and are barely noticeable.

    I have always used the same emulsion as the walls to paint the pipes when I redecorate a room, so they're practically invisible.
