    I believe my car does "worse" in winter due to the warm up cycle effectively taking longer and a product of throwing more fuel in to act as a "choke", along with more strain on battery from heaters, lights etc.

    Not sure either. All uk diesel fuel seems to adhere to the BS EN 590 standard which does split fuel into winter and summer...

    Distribution seems to be start of November to end of march.

    My best economy was over the summer months but that as you say could be down to requiring less heating, lights, etc.
